Detection and Elimination

Nest Location

Some species of termite, especially those damaging ones in the outer suburbs of Melbourne (Coptotermes frenchi) are single nesters, coming from their nest in a tree or log, up to 75 meters to infest a building. If their nest can be located, it can be destroyed with a strong chance that the entire colony will die and remedy a building infestation. An expert termite controller will have an eye for nest locations and this is great pest control, but don't forget that treatment plan. Follow up checks of the treated nest site and inspections of the infested building are essential. Colony control does not protect a building into the future, and some plan for this needs to be provided.

Specialist Termite Control is an advocate of nest location, and will normally provide an initial nest search as part of the free assessment.

Please Note: Nest location has little relevance in Melbourne's inner and southern suburbs, where the termites tend to be "multiple nesters" not linked to any particular tree.
